Jacob Hashimoto.

The artist strings together unconventional materials such as bamboo paper kites, enameled foam cubes, and model boats, then hangs his structures from ceilings or wall brackets, giving them the appearance of dense, fragmented tapestries. His vibrant, fleeting installations and sculptures - ranging from monochromatic to color-saturated works - blend elements of modernism with traditional Japanese craftsmanship. Though largely abstract, they can evoke organic forms, landscapes, video games, cosmology, and art history. Hashimoto's installations often span entire rooms, forcing viewers to reevaluate their relationship to the exhibition space as they move through the work. Hashimoto received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1996. Since then, he has exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, London, Brussels, Venice, and Milan. His work is in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the California Endowment, the Microsoft Art Collection, and the One Capitol Collection, among others.
