Elias. Elias Crespin

Elias Crespin grew up in Caracas, where he initially trained as a computer engineer. Both his parents were mathematicians and his grandparents were artists; his work is a perfect blend of these two personal worlds of his: science and art. It was not until 2002, after 20 years in the field of software programming, that he started to develop his first work, which was completed after two years of research. Since 2008, he has been living and working in Paris. Crespin is interested in the movement of matter and the perception of movement. His installations consist of metal or other elements arranged into geometric shapes suspended in mid-air by almost invisible nylon threads. He uses intuition to choose between different forms, materials and textures. Then, through elaborate computer programming, Crespin adds a series of gentle movements and distortions-his brushstrokes-that keep the elements moving and mutating in a circular geometric choreography, a dance that takes us to the space and time of the Reflections on Form
